Why the heat?

By Event No Comments

Our classes are heated and although that may sound unendurable to you, it is actually helpful. It is not like a sauna–we have humidity pumped in through a state-of-the-art ventilation system including continuous air exchange. Once you make up your mind to endure, it is a wonderful relief to surrender to the hot room. Once you try it for yourself, you’ll understand. You just have to get past hating it first.

Practicing in a heated room has multiple benefits, such as increased flexibility and help in flushing toxins out of the body, not to mention quick weight loss. Tolerating the heat is really an athletic challenge–you will build endurance and stamina as well.  It is a non-competitive sport, so no one will be looking at you, focus instead on yourself.

Our Hot 90 and 50 minute classes will be the same postures each time, in 105 degrees. Our vinyasa and hot barre classes will have different poses and are held in 90-95 degrees.  Each posture is hard work, and you may get very tired, you just keep trying and exert your best effort. It’s okay to kneel or lie down until you feel more balanced.

Regular practitioners feel less stressed and more in control of their time–with a laser beam focus and mental clarity. There is an empowerment that comes from knowing you are more in control of your health and overall well-being. If you can commit to a regular Afterglow Hot Yoga practice, you can do anything.  Your posture will improve and you will become physically stronger and begin to carry your body differently.  You will even find that you want to eat better–your body naturally craves healthier foods and you will drink more water in preparation for class.

After just a few sessions,  your skin will be clearer, you’ll feel more energetic, you’ll be able to sleep better; there will be noticeable changes in your body. It will aid in weight loss, healing and repair of injuries, and best of all, peace of mind.  Pretty soon you’ll be craving that blissful feeling more and more.
